Stem Cells for Life, a project of the Rotary Club of North Bay - Nipissing
Colin Vickers, Rotary Club of North Bay-Nipissing Stem Cells for Life, a project of the Rotary Club of North Bay - Nipissing Jan 16, 2024

The Rotary Club of Nipissing in partnership with Canadian Blood Services; and, with help from a wonderful advisory committee, is moving forward with a "campaign" to register potential stem cell donors. We will be using social media, educational programs, events like a "swab in" and other strategies to achieve this.

Rotarian Colin Vickers (a former member of C-K Rotary) is a grateful recipient of a stem cell transplant. The transplant was needed and made available to him after intensive treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Today, just over a year after his transplant, he is feeling well and making good progress. The club supports him in the choice to "give back".

Come and hear Colin speak about this amazing project.

We will get started at 11:00, so please arrive by 10:45 a.m.

This event is especially important for all our new and not-so-new members of our CKRotary Club, as well as beneficial and relevant for our seasoned Rotarians!

Come and share your experiences!

This is an opportunity for your CKRotary Leadership Team to hear your thoughts, ideas, questions, and concerns which will help to guide their various decisions in planning for the future of our Club.

This is the plan:
Everyone is asked to prepare 2 questions that are meant to stimulate discussion on a piece of paper.  The questions, written anonymously, will be placed in a jar and and then drawn for discussion.

Some sample questions might be:
  • What do you like most/least about Rotary?
  • Do you feel our Club is a good fit for you?
  • What would you like to change in how the Club operates?
  • Are you satisfied with your Rotary experience?
  • Why is Rotary important to you?
  • What question would you like to ask of our Rotary Club’s leadership team?

We sincerely hope to see many of you at this event!

5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Board Meetings are open to all members. Agendas and minutes, once approved, are posted in the Club Documents space on ClubRunner.

Meetings are normally held by Zoom (click on link to join), occasionally in person. The normal date is the third Monday of each month, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

The board, in close consultation and communication with the whole club, sets the overall direction for the club, develops a budget, and authorizes special expenditures. It is both a policy and administrative body. Attending a board meeting is a good way to get insight into the operation of the club and to share your ideas and concerns with the board. If you want the board to consider an idea or concern in depth, please ask the president or secretary to put it on the agenda, which is developed a week before the meeting.
