District Governor Adress to C-K Rotary
Jan 17, 2023 7:15 AM
Join us this morning as our District Governor Michel addresses our club. In 1988, Michel began his Rotary journey in his country of origin with the Rotary Club of Port-Louis. He was touched by the club's mission and joined the board a year later. Making Rotary a part of his daily life, he chaired various committees, led several overseas humanitarian missions, and the first Rotary Village Core building was constructed under his leadership.
His enthusiasm followed him to Canada when he joined the Rotary Club of Old Montreal in 1993 to continue his charitable work. He served as president of his club for two terms (1997-1998, 2015-2016) and served as assistant district governor for five terms (2004-2005, 2005-2006, 2006-2007, 2019-2020, 2020-2021) . Together with his wife, Suzanne, they have become major donors to The Rotary Foundation and Michel is also a benefactor.

Early Melanoma Detection
Mar 14, 2023 7:15 AM
Steve Fine, founder and president of the Melanoma Education Foundation, attended colleges in the Boston area, receiving a doctorate in chemistry from Northeastern University. He then moved to Pennsylvania, completing a year of postdoctoral research at Lehigh University. After 5 years as Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, he moved back to New England where he served in technical and management positions in high tech chemical companies. Shortly after his son, Dan, died of melanoma in 1998 at the age of 26, he founded the non-profit Melanoma Education Foundation and, since 2000, has devoted full time to the Foundation. The primary activity of the Foundation has been educating high school and middle school wellness teachers about melanoma and providing them with free online lessons to educate their students about self-detecting melanoma while it is curable. We are pleased to welcome Steve to CK Rotary this morning |
