Riley will share his experience in the canoe-based, multi-cultural Adventures in Understanding, August 27 - September 1. The program is offered by the Rotary Club of Peterborough Kawartha with the assistance of the Curve Lake First Nation Youth Committee, with the co-operation of Camp Kawartha and the Canadian Canoe Museum. Riley is a high school student who also works and volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club in Kingston, BGC South East.

The group is advocating for and raising funds for a fully accessible, all inclusive playground in Kingston. The project is partnering with the City, as well as Extend a Family and KidsInclusive, and is quickly picking up traction (the Kingstonist just wrote an article about the proposed playground https://www.kingstonist.com/news/inclusive-play-project-advocates-for-a-kingston-playground-for-everyone/ ) but they are quickly becoming in need of volunteers to help with promotions and fundraising.

October 24th is World Polio Day. We will discuss Rotary International and our Club roles in making Polio only the second disease to be erradicated in human history.

The International Service Committee will provide us with an update on their work, featuring a recently completed and very successful Global Grant Project, "Awareness creation & Early detection of Breast cancer," also know as The iBreast Cancer Screening Project. Join us as Ray talks about The Kenya Initiative: from Street to School. The purpose of the initiative is to provide educational support to disadvantaged Kenya youth to help them overcome obstacles and reach their full potential. The Kenya Initiative: from Street to School is a charitable organization whose primary purpose is to provide educational support (primary school, secondary school, or college/university) for disadvantaged young people in Kenya. The Initiative extends occasional support to widows caring for grandchildren whose parents have died or left them.

Stacy joined CFKA in August 2022, bringing expertise in philanthropic strategy and charitable operations, campaign management, annual giving, major giving, corporate and community engagement, and volunteer management. This morning we will hear about what's new at CFKA.

A celebration with Pathways to Education Kingston alumni, alumnae, graduands, and representatives from the Pathways to Education national office. The celebration will include recognize by the natilonal office the work of the F.A.R. (Facilitator of Alumni Relations) Project and its desire to extend post-secondary support to other Pathways centres across the country.

The Rotary Club of Nipissing in partnership with Canadian Blood Services; and, with help from a wonderful advisory committee, is moving forward with a "campaign" to register potential stem cell donors. We will be using social media, educational programs, events like a "swab in" and other strategies to achieve this.

Rotarian Colin Vickers (a former member of C-K Rotary) is a grateful recipient of a stem cell transplant. The transplant was needed and made available to him after intensive treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Today, just over a year after his transplant, he is feeling well and making good progress. The club supports him in the choice to "give back".

Andrea will share the story of her journey through photography as a community member at The Mess Studio. Sandi Dodds, who founded The Mess, will give us an update on the Pottery Program that we sponsored in the FALL Grants session.
