Almost Home and The YGK Thrift Store

Almost Home is a home-away-from-home for families with ill or injured children, a place of comfort and respite for families whose children are receiving medical treatment in Kingston area hospitals.

Almost Home operates YGK Thrift, a clothing store. All proceeds support Almost Home.

Sayward Berry splits her time between the home and the thrift story so will give an overview of what the home means to families who stay there and the story of the thrift store that supports the home. In her own words:

I have worked for YGK Thrift and Almost Home for the last 4 years. While my role at YGK Thrift has changed over these past 4 years as I added working directly at Almost Home, the passion for what I do remains. I have always been a people-oriented person with an extensive background in retail management, but I have found my happiness working for a non-profit. The meaningful connections I have been able to make with both the community groups who we partner with and the customers who shop at the thrift store, is what drives me to make YGK Thrift the best possible shop it can be.
