Thanks to the dedication and skill of Holly Gwynne-Timothy and a Community Service Grant of $2,780 from the Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston. a program called “Music for All” enables musicians who are blind to sing in Melos Choir & Period Instruments.
Melos Artistic Director Holly Gwynne-Timothy is a singer, choral conductor, voice teacher, and clinician, an expert in a restorative functional approach to voice teaching. She has initiated many programs to work with a wide variety of differently-abled people to lift their voices in song.
With support from her choristers and individualized coaching, Holly paved the way for two talented singers who are blind to sing with Melos. Not only did they learn the music by heart, but they also greatly extended their vocal capabilities through Holly's functional approach to singing. It's based on the work of Cornelius Reid who was a well-known New York-based vocal coach for Broadway and Operatic stars.
