Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (FACSFLA)
Dec 07, 2021 7:15 AM
Sonia Gentile – Executive Director of (FACSFLA) and Stacie Godin – Tree of Hope campaign co-chair will provide an update on Three game changers" good news from Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (FACSFLA). 1. Embracing a new path forward. Our new way of doing things is making big change in our communities. This steady, mindful, behind the scenes work is paying off. 90% of children we see stay with their families. This is a significant number. Our Environmental Equity scan is another major example of change. 2. Our COVID response is working. Out of the gate we embraced technology, then we adapted and then adapted again. A hybrid model was quickly introduced that emphasized safety protocols and personal connection. We will soon survey service recipients to find out what worked and what didn’t. 3. The evolution of the Tree of Hope. This 100-year tradition has seen one of its biggest transformations in decades. |

Happy New Year!
We hope you are all keeping safe, warm, and healthy!
As part of our ongoing District Training Assemblies, we invite you to join us on Monday, January 17 at 7 pm (via Zoom) for a special one hour focusing on Vocational Service. Our guest speaker for this event is Mark Wafer. Mark Wafer is a Rotarian with the Collingwood South Georgian Bay Club. His partner, Valarie, is Rotary International Director for Zones 28/32.
Mark is well placed to speak about Vocational Service. Until recently he was the owner of six highly successful Tim Hortons locations in Toronto. During his 25 years in the business Mark employed over 200 workers with disabilities in all areas of the operation including senior management. At any given time approximately 17% of his workforce identified as having a disability.
Mark is an internationally recognized expert on the economics of inclusion. He is an advisor to governments around the world and is responsible for Canada's national disability employment strategy. Mark has received many awards and recognition for his work most notably from her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. He was inducted into the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame in 2014. Winterdance Dogsled Tours
Feb 01, 2022 7:15 AM
Growing up in the middle of her grandparents' farm, Tanya has adored animals and the outdoors her whole life too. Passionate about the environment she pursued a degree in Environmental Engineering at Guelph and continued on to earn her P.Eng. before deciding with Hank that their passion for the wilderness and their dogs were taking them in a different direction. As 4 children joined their family as Winterdance was started, Tanya took the management side of the business on so she could be home with the kids thanks to a home office. She has also wrote 2 books about the couples adventures and races and enjoys sharing their stories and lessons around overcoming challenges, mindset of a leader, building great teams and chasing dreams with corporations, organizations and schools. We are delighted to welcome Tanya McCready to CK Rotary! |
